The Central Government has appointed Kalyan Kumar as MD & CEO of the Central Bank of India, effective September 30, 2025, for a three-year term.

Kumar, with over 26 years in banking, was previously Executive Director at Punjab National Bank and played a key role in the Union Bank merger with Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank. He began his career in 1995 as a Rural Development Officer at Union Bank and has expertise in credit, vigilance, process transformation, and HR management.

He has also served on the boards of PNB Gilts Ltd., IIFCL, and NIBSCOM. A science postgraduate and CAIIB-certified banker, Kumar holds additional credentials in trade finance, IT security, and KYC-AML. His appointment is expected to steer the bank’s growth and digital transformation journey.
