Maharashtra’s FDA has suspended the food business license of Zepto’s parent firm, Kiranakart Technologies, after a surprise inspection at its Dharavi warehouse revealed serious food safety lapses. Issues included fungal contamination, expired stock, poor storage conditions, and unsanitary premises.

The inspection, prompted by local tip-offs, found violations severe enough to justify immediate suspension under food safety laws. Zepto must address the concerns and pass reinspection before resuming operations at the site.

Minister Yogesh Kadam clarified this action is part of a broader crackdown on quick-commerce firms, with similar warnings issued to Blinkit and Instamart. Zepto has launched an internal audit and pledged full cooperation with authorities.
