Starting July 10, 2025, Instagram will allow search engines like Google and Bing to index public content from professional accounts, including photos, videos, and reels. This marks a shift from its earlier stance of limiting content visibility outside the platform.
Only public, professional accounts owned by users over 18 are eligible, and the policy applies to content posted since January 1, 2020. Remixed content may also appear in search results.
Users can opt out by adjusting privacy settings, switching to a private or personal account. Instagram notes that search engines may take time to remove indexed content and continue to display some profile info.
