Vodafone Idea has appointed Abhijit Kishore as CEO for a three-year term starting August 19, 2025, succeeding Akshaya Moondra.
Currently COO, Kishore has been with Vi since 2015, leading enterprise, circle operations, and the rollout of India’s first 4G services. With nearly 30 years in telecom, he takes charge as the debt-laden operator faces funding hurdles and AGR liabilities, while awaiting government relief to unlock fresh capital.
Moondra, CEO since 2022 and former Idea CFO, focused on stabilising finances through a ₹25,000 cr rights issue and government equity conversions, including the March 2025 conversion of ₹36,950 cr dues that raised the government’s stake to 48.99%.
