Amazon MGM Studios has named Peter Friedlander as its new Head of Global TV. In this role, he will lead U.S. original programming, global tentpole projects, MGM Television, and MGM Alternative.
The appointment was announced by Mike Hopkins, head of Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, who emphasized Friedlander’s responsibility in shaping the studio’s global TV strategy.
Friedlander previously served as head of scripted TV for the U.S. and Canada at Netflix, where he oversaw major hits such as Wednesday, Bridgerton, and Emily in Paris. Widely regarded as one of the industry’s most influential executives, he played a key role in the success of several flagship series during his tenure.
Having left Netflix in August 2025, Friedlander will officially step into his new role at Amazon MGM Studios on October 6, succeeding Vernon Sanders.
