The BBC has appointed Nick Lee as Head of Acquisitions, effective November 2025. He will lead programme acquisition strategy to ensure BBC iPlayer and channels offer a wide range of quality programming.

Lee joins from BBC Studios, where he was Commercial Director of Scripted, and previously served as Head of Acquisitions and International at Channel 4, securing major titles like The Handmaid’s Tale and Fargo.

Sue Deeks will continue until Lee’s arrival, then transition to a part-time role as Head of Pre-Buy Acquisitions. BBC’s Dan McGolpin praised Lee as an experienced dealmaker, while Lee called the role a “vocational calling.”
