The Indian Outdoor Advertising Association (IOAA) has urged Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to cut GST on outdoor advertising from 18% to 5%, calling the current rate “excessively high” and burdensome for MSMEs, local businesses, and PPP projects that fund civic infrastructure.
In its appeal, IOAA argued that lower GST would make outdoor ads more affordable, boost small-budget campaigns, and encourage private investment in urban development.
The association also recommended GST exemption for PPP-linked projects and tax concessions for media owners contributing to public infrastructure.
Chairman Pawan Bansal highlighted that many MSMEs struggle with the current tax load, which risks undermining both business growth and civic initiatives. IOAA expressed hope the government will act to strengthen the MSME ecosystem and sustainable urban development.
