The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Sanjog Gupta as its new CEO. Formerly CEO – Sports & Live Experiences at JioStar, Gupta becomes the ICC’s seventh chief executive, bringing over 20 years of experience in sports strategy, media, and consumer engagement.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah highlighted Gupta’s deep understanding of global sports, media, and fan behavior, stating his leadership will be key in globalising cricket and pushing for Olympic inclusion. Gupta expressed excitement about the sport’s growth potential, especially with expanding marquee events, rising popularity of the women’s game, and cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympics.
A key figure in transforming sports broadcasting in India, Gupta has led major initiatives across the IPL, ICC events, and domestic leagues like PKL and ISL. Starting as a journalist, he joined Star India in 2010 and later became Head of Sports at Disney & Star. In 2024, he was appointed CEO of JioStar Sports after the Viacom18–Disney Star merger.
Gupta now steps into the ICC role with a vision to expand cricket’s global reach, enhance fan experiences, and deepen partnerships with member boards.
