The Department of Telecommunications has unveiled the Draft National Telecom Policy (NTP) 2025, outlining India’s vision to become a global telecom leader. Aiming for a resilient, secure, and inclusive digital ecosystem, the policy focuses on six strategic missions: universal connectivity, innovation, domestic manufacturing, network security, ease of living and business, and sustainable development.
Key goals by 2030 include:
- ₹1 lakh crore annual investment
- 1 million new jobs and skilled workers
- Doubling telecom’s GDP contribution and exports
- 100% 4G and 90% 5G population coverage
- Achieving 10% global share in 6G IPRs
- Reducing telecom’s carbon footprint by 30%
The policy also emphasizes localization, 6G leadership, quantum-safe networks, and green telecom infrastructure.
