The Department of Telecommunications has unveiled the Draft National Telecom Policy (NTP) 2025, outlining India’s vision to become a global telecom leader. Aiming for a resilient, secure, and inclusive digital ecosystem, the policy focuses on six strategic missions: universal connectivity, innovation, domestic manufacturing, network security, ease of living and business, and sustainable development.

Key goals by 2030 include:

  • ₹1 lakh crore annual investment
  • 1 million new jobs and skilled workers
  • Doubling telecom’s GDP contribution and exports
  • 100% 4G and 90% 5G population coverage
  • Achieving 10% global share in 6G IPRs
  • Reducing telecom’s carbon footprint by 30%

The policy also emphasizes localization, 6G leadership, quantum-safe networks, and green telecom infrastructure.

Public feedback is invited within 21 days (from July 24, 2025) at uspolicy.hq-dot@gov.in, with the subject line “Consultation on Draft NTP 2025.”
