Vidya Kailasam Hangal has been appointed Director – Category Planning and Activation at Mondelēz International, along with the additional responsibility of heading Customer Marketing. Based in Mumbai, she took on the expanded role in November 2025, strengthening the company’s leadership bench across marketing and commercial functions.
Hangal has spent over a decade at Mondelēz International, holding several senior positions across marketing, omnichannel strategy, digital transformation and customer management. Most recently, she served as Director – Omnichannel, where she led the organised trade business and oversaw modern trade and e-commerce operations, including quick commerce, e-grocery and marketplace channels.
Earlier, she was part of the India marketing leadership team, where she played a key role in driving digital transformation, consumer data strategies and first-party data ecosystems. Her experience spans building owned media platforms, martech and analytics frameworks, full-funnel consumer journeys, and leading innovation pipelines and category initiatives across gum, candy and biscuits.
Before joining Mondelēz, Hangal worked with companies such as Britannia Industries, Novartis Consumer Health and The Coca-Cola Company, gaining exposure to brand management, portfolio strategy and key accounts. She began her professional journey as a software engineer at Infosys.
In her new role, Hangal will focus on aligning category planning, customer marketing and activation strategies to drive growth across channels, while strengthening the link between brand objectives and retail execution for Mondelēz International in India.
