Zomato is gearing up to create lasting memories this Mother’s Day, set to unfold on May 12, 2024. In its latest campaign, the renowned food aggregator platform brings on board the comedic genius of Johnny Lever, who fondly reminisces about his iconic dialogue, “Abhi maza aayega na bhidu,” from the beloved movie Phir Hera Pheri.

The advertisement kicks off with a humorous scene: a father captures a video of his daughter, gently ribbing her for forgetting to extend Mother’s Day wishes to her mom. In a bid to make amends, the daughter surprises her mother with a cake adorned with the heartfelt message “Happy Belated Mother’s Day.”

Towards the ad’s conclusion, the mother radiates warmth and understanding, remarking, “No worries, it’s just a Mother’s Day.” An intriguing statistic is then unveiled: 8 out of 10 Indians overlook Mother’s Day annually, a fact attested to by the mothers themselves.

In response to this revelation, Zomato pledges to ensure an unforgettable Mother’s Day experience. Throughout the campaign, various characters prompt individuals about the impending date, while one proactive person even opts to get “12th May” tattooed as a precautionary measure against forgetting.

The ad cleverly incorporates cultural references, such as “Chiku” scoring 12 runs, a playful nod to Virat Kohli’s moniker. Instagram sensation Arpit Bhala makes an appearance donning a doctor’s attire, followed by the insightful musings of social media entrepreneur and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as Beer Biceps, who ponders over whether extraterrestrial beings observe Mother’s Day. The scene also features a cameo by Nana Patekar from the hit movie Welcome.

As the advertisement draws to a close, Zomato encourages viewers to mark their calendars using the app for Mother’s Day on May 12, 2024. In a humorous twist reminiscent of viral pranks, a witch-clad woman startles a passer by by announcing the impending arrival of Mother’s Day. Following the advertisement, attention shifts to a scripted behind-the-scenes (BTS) segment. Here, the company’s marketing team delves into media strategies, while the growth team announces the introduction of a promotional code, “12 May,” offering customers exclusive discounts as a token of appreciation.
