The Snap EMEA President will take charge of global advertising sales and go-to-market operations after nearly four years leading the company’s regional business.

September 9, 2026: Snap Inc. has appointed Ronan Harris as Chief Commercial Officer, putting the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) President in charge of its global advertising sales and go-to-market operations.

Harris succeeds Ajit Mohan, who is stepping down from his role as Chief Business Officer after nearly four years with Snap. The leadership transition comes as the social media company continues to focus on strengthening its advertising infrastructure, particularly its performance marketing capabilities.

In his new position, Harris will oversee Snap’s commercial organisation globally, working across advertisers, agencies and partners as the company looks to turn its growing user base into stronger advertising outcomes.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel highlighted Harris’ advertising experience and relationships with the company’s partners, pointing to his track record of driving growth during his tenure at Snap.

Harris joined Snap in October 2022 as President of EMEA and has since led the company’s operations across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His elevation follows a period of growth for the regional business and gives Snap a commercial leader with extensive experience across major advertising markets.

Prior to joining Snap, Harris spent 17 years at Google, where he held several senior positions across EMEA. He eventually became Vice President and Managing Director of Google UK and Ireland, after working across the company’s advertising and business operations in multiple markets.

His background in digital advertising is particularly relevant to Snap’s current priorities. During his time at Google, Harris was closely involved with the company’s online advertising business across EMEA, giving him experience in working with brands, agencies and technology teams at significant scale.

Harris’ career began in Japan with Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation’s Information Storage Products division. He subsequently spent several years working across consulting and technology in Japan before returning to Ireland in 2001 and moving into private equity. He holds a degree in electronic engineering from University College Dublin.

The leadership change comes as Snap continues to reshape its advertising business. During his tenure, Mohan was involved in the company’s efforts to rebuild its advertising platform, with a greater emphasis on performance advertising and direct-response capabilities.

That transformation will now form a significant part of Harris’ global mandate. The company has been working to make its advertising offering more measurable and effective for marketers, moving beyond brand-led advertising towards a broader performance-driven model.

Snap reported 19% year-on-year revenue growth in the second quarter of 2026, while its global user base continues to move towards the one-billion mark. The company has also been reorganising parts of its business, with increased focus on engineering and advertising products.

Harris therefore takes over Snap’s commercial operations at a significant stage in the company’s evolution. With audience scale continuing to grow, his immediate challenge will be to strengthen the connection between Snapchat’s reach and the measurable business results advertisers increasingly expect from digital platforms.
