Prime Video has announced September 25, 2026 as the premiere date for Don’t Be Shy, an upcoming young adult romantic comedy centred on friendship, first love, heartbreak and the messy realities of growing up.
Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the film is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under Eternal Sunshine Productions, with Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani serving as co-producers.
The film features newcomers Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal in the lead roles, alongside Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik.
The newly released trailer introduces Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, played by Aarushi Bajaj, whose carefully planned life takes an unexpected turn. As she attempts to regain control, Shy finds herself navigating complicated feelings for Mayank (Piyush Khati) and her estranged childhood friend Dhruv (Ansh Duggal). The arrival of Tara (Bianca Arora), a mysterious and free-spirited new presence in her college life, adds another layer of chaos to the mix.
What starts as Shy’s attempt to put her life back on track soon turns into a series of unexpected relationships, questionable decisions and comic situations, forming the backdrop for the film’s coming-of-age story.
Mukerji said the film was inspired by the movies she grew up watching and wanted to create a story that captures the uncertainty of being on the threshold of adulthood. She also credited Alia and Shaheen Bhatt, Prime Video and the film’s young cast for helping bring the project to life.
For the four newcomers, the film also marks an important milestone, with Ansh Duggal making his feature-film debut. The cast members have described the experience of working on the film as both challenging and exciting, particularly as they navigated their first major roles together.
Don’t Be Shy will stream exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide from September 25, 2026.
