Starting June 17, 2025, Prime Video India will introduce limited ads on shows and films, ending nearly nine years of ad-free streaming. The move aligns with Amazon’s global strategy to support content investments through ad revenue.

Subscribers can avoid ads by paying an optional add-on fee of ₹699 per year or ₹129 per month. The base Prime membership price remains unchanged.

Ads have already appeared on Prime Video’s live sports and MX Player content, which Amazon acquired in 2024. India follows countries like the U.S. and U.K. in adopting this model, positioning Prime Video alongside ad-supported platforms like JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar.
