The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has appointed Ishan Chatterjee, Chief Executive Officer – Sports at JioStar, as the Chairman of its Digital Entertainment Committee (DEC).
Chatterjee succeeds Kiran Mani, with IAMAI acknowledging Mani’s leadership and contributions to the committee during his tenure.
Commenting on his appointment, Chatterjee said India’s digital entertainment industry is at a pivotal stage, driven by the convergence of technology, creativity and changing consumer behaviour. He noted that the sector presents significant opportunities for innovation in storytelling, audience engagement and monetisation.
He added that sustaining this growth will require close collaboration between platforms, creators, brands and policymakers, while leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. According to Chatterjee, consumers will continue to play a central role in shaping how entertainment is created, distributed and experienced.
“I look forward to working with the industry to help unlock the next phase of growth and strengthen India’s position as a leader in digital entertainment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deepit Purkayastha, Co-founder and CEO of Inshorts, will continue to serve as Co-Chair of the Digital Entertainment Committee.
