NDTV Digital has announced the appointment of Vinay Sarawagi as its Chief Content Officer, reinforcing its focus on digital innovation, audience engagement and AI-led content transformation.

A seasoned media professional with more than two decades of experience, Sarawagi brings expertise across editorial leadership, digital transformation and media business strategy. Prior to joining NDTV Digital, he was the Co-Founder and CEO of The Media GCC, a specialised global capability centre that supported media and broadcast organisations in content strategy, technology transformation and revenue optimisation, with a particular emphasis on AI-driven disruption.

Over the course of his career, Sarawagi has held leadership positions at leading media organisations including Times Group, Network18, Business Standard, Reuters, DNA and India Today, where he played a key role in driving digital growth across editorial, audience and revenue functions. He is a CNN Fellow and holds a Master’s degree in Media Management along with a Diploma in Cyber Laws.

In his new role, Sarawagi will oversee content strategy across NDTV Digital’s platforms, with a focus on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance storytelling, strengthen editorial depth and deepen audience engagement. He will also work closely with teams to develop scalable and future-ready content capabilities.

Commenting on the appointment, Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV, said Sarawagi’s blend of editorial expertise, digital experience and strategic thinking would help the network build content that remains credible, contemporary and relevant for audiences globally.

Purva Misra, Chief People Officer, NDTV, highlighted Sarawagi’s collaborative leadership style and his vision for integrating AI into newsroom operations as key factors behind the appointment.

Sharing his thoughts on the new role, Sarawagi said he was excited to join NDTV Digital at a time when journalism is being reshaped by technology, changing audience behaviour and emerging storytelling formats. He added that he looks forward to working with the team to create future-ready digital content while upholding the trust and credibility associated with the NDTV brand.
